Nolan Smith, an all-American and member of Duke’s 2010 national championship team, has joined the staff as a special assistant, coach Mike Krzyzewski announced Monday.

As a special assistant, Smith will help develop game strategies, break down film, plan practices and contribute in staff meetings. “The opportunity to start my coaching career and learn from Coach K is something I couldn’t pass up,” Smith said in a statement. “As a member of the coaching staff, Duke fans will see the same passion I brought to the program as a player for four years.”
