Paul VI's Kevin Dorsey. Currently ranked No. 127 in the class of 2015, the 5-foot-11 point guard made a pretty compelling case that he is currently a bit underrated. Extremely quick, capable of getting into the lane at will and a ferocious on the ball defender, Dorsey isn't the biggest guy around but he plays with plenty of heart.

Most notable was the way that he scored and shot the ball. On a very good Paul VI team, Dorsey's role is to run his squad and defend and provide some scoring when needed. Saturday, he was much more aggressive as a scorer than Rivals.com has ever seen and looked comfortable in doing so.

Dorsey listed offers from Virginia Tech (old staff though Buzz Williams will likely pick up pursuit), VCU, Florida Gulf Coast, UMass, SMU, Old Dominion, Creighton and Ole Miss.

2015's No. 58 player Franklin Howard missed all of his junior season with a knee injury. However, Howard told Rivals.com on Saturday that he expects to be cleared by doctors on Monday. Howard has grown to a legitimate 6-foot-5 and from the sounds of it injury didn't hurt his recruiting at all. He listed Ohio State, Syracuse, Georgetown and Virginia as his most active suitors and also listed Maryland, Connecticut, N.C. State, Seton Hall, Florida, USF and Virginia Tech.

Saturday at the Metro Challenge, a handful of floor generals did a good job of either boosting their stock or proving that they belong amongst the nation's top players at the position. They also showed that there are some guys who can play in the D.C. area.

The highest ranked player of the bunch, Bryant Crawford of Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga hit the floor with a chip on his shoulder. The 6-foot-2 junior said that he wasn't satisfied with how his high school season went and that No. 51 was looking to prove he still belonged as a top tier prospect.

Crawford definitely looked to be fully recovered from last summer's knee injury that hampered him some during the season. He had a little more explosion to his first step, had defenders bouncing off of him on his way to the rim and he was shooting the ball better off the dribble between 15 and 20 feet.

According to Crawford, Indiana, Georgetown and West Virginia -- where he's looking to visit soon -- have been working him the hardest. He also mentioned Louisville and Kansas as teams that were out during the season who plan to watch him this spring and summer.

"I feel like I need to get my name back out there," Crawford told Rivals.com. "Everything that people say I can't do I'm trying to prove that I can do."

In late October, Jon Davis, a 6-foot-2 scorer out of Upper Marlboro (Md.) Clinton Christian, committed to DePaul. Just two weeks later, Davis signed a Letter of Intent with Oliver Purnell’s program.
Now Davis is looking to go elsewhere.

Davis recently asked the DePaul staff to be released from his Letter of Intent, so he could do a year of prep school of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy and open up his recruitment.

“My recruitment is back open,” Davis told Scout.com. “I told them about two weeks ago.”

What led to this decision?

“Just throughout the year me, my parents and a couple of my coaches thought it’d be best if I go to prep because it would better me for college,” Davis said. “Then we talked to a couple of prep school coaches and everyone thought it would benefit me going prep.”

Davis, who will play for Damon Handon’s DC Premier team this spring and summer, said not many know about his decision.

“I don’t think many of the college coaches know,” Davis told Scout.com.

At this point, Davis doesn’t have a list of schools and is waiting for his official release.

“Whoever wants me,” Davis said when asked if there were any schools he’d like to hear from. “I will go where I’m wanted.”

DEVIN ROBINSON
CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOL
CHRIST CHURCH VA.

Devin Robinson, a 6-foot-8 forward from Christchurch School (Va.), chose the Florida Gators over Indiana, Notre Dame and Oklahoma State.

Robinson is one of the best combo forwards in the class. Moreover, his ceiling is very high. At this point, Robinson is already a matchup nightmare for most opponents. He's long and athletic, and knows how to get points in a variety of ways. Robinson has consistent range out to the perimeter, and is able to finish at the rim in transition.

Defensively, he can guard multiple positions and is an effective help defender due to his length. Robinson is long and fluid, and has decent hops — you don't need much more than decent hops at 6'8" — a good shot, and good handles.

He's the kind of slithery wing/forward hybrid player that Donovan's had so much success with in his career, whether that player's Mike Miller, Brewer, or Chandler Parsons, and he's a great fit for Billy Donovan's ball screen offense.

Dwayne Morgan, the consensus 2014 5-star forward and the top player in the state of Maryland, is potentially back on the table and potentially focused on Maryland as a potential destination. Sources today confirmed a report that Dave Rice has been offered the head coaching position at South Florida.

He’s currently returning from an interview in Tampa, where he was offered a five-year deal for $1.2 million per season. If Rice were to leave, UNLV would likely lose at least some of its recruiting class. Findlay Prep guard Rashad Vaughn was a late commit, so he still hasn’t signed and would be free to choose another school.

Dwayne Morgan and Goodluck Okonoboh would have to be released from their letters of intent, but if Rice leaves, that seems likely.

Jay Wright was asked  how much Jenkins has grown this year, and he pointed out that he’s actually done the opposite.

“Really proud of him, man,” Wright said. “He hasn't grown at all since he stepped on campus. He’s shrunk since he stepped on campus. Forty pounds. He's lost 40 pounds. He worked so hard.

Jenkins said it wasn’t easy shedding all the pounds, but he knew he wouldn’t have a major role until he did.

He worked throughout the fall and even into the season with Villanova strength coach John Shackleton, hammering his body into the kind of condition needed to play Division 1 basketball on the highest level.

“It was definitely challenging,” Jenkins said. “Just working out, changing my diet, drinking a lot of water, things like that.

“I definitely knew coming in I’d have to do it. Coach Shack and I have a good relationship, just working hard to make sure I lost the weight.”

Not too long ago, Jenkins was close to 300 pounds at 6-foot-6. Now he’s a comfortable 250 to 255 and able to handle those increased minutes without getting gassed.

“I feel a lot better, definitely,” he said. “I’m able to play defense much longer and at a higher level, and I’m able to run the floor at a high level as well.”

“And Kris, he’s just gradually gotten better and better and better to the point now where he's doing a lot of little things. He was not making shots, which is really his greatest strength. He's one of the best shooters on the team. Now he's making shots and really become an invaluable part of our rotation.”

KEVIN DURANT NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - ALL-MET ELITE

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
 ALL-MET ELITE

MONTROSE CHRISTIAN HS.
ROCKVILLE MD.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday March 17 through Sunday March 23.

During that week of action, Durant led the Thunder to a 3-0 road record with wins over the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers and Toronto Raptors. Durant scored 121 points, grabbed 35 rebounds and dished out 18 assists for incredible weekly averages of 40.3ppg, 11.7rpg and 6apg while shooting 51.4% FG and 54.2% from 3pt range.

The highlight for the week was certainly the 51 point performance and game winning three point basket against the Toronto Raptors, but the entire week was worth watching. He score 35 points against the Bulls and the Cavs and added double figure rebounds in all three outings.

It is yet another string to the bow of Durant who many feel should be the leagues Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career.

 SHOULD SERIOUSLY
 RECONSIDER
UMD?
ALL- MET ELITE

DION WILEY

WHY DION WILEY SHOULD SERIOUSLY RECONSIDER UMD ?

Playing Time.

Dez Wells will be a senior unless he decides to declare for the draft.
Nick Faust will be a senior with 3 years off ACC experience.
Seth Allen will be a junior with 2 years of ACC experience and is a combo guard.
Jake Layman will be a junior with 2 years of ACC experience.
Roddy Peters will be a sophomore with 1 year of ACC experience.
Romelo Trimble will be an incoming freshman and McDonald's All-American with talks already of converting to point guard to pair with Seth Allen and Dez Wells on the perimeter.
Throw in Jared Nickens another incoming freshman perimeter player and you have a potential lack of game time minutes at the guard position during Dion Wiley's freshman year.

With college basketball ruined by the one and done players most programs have taken on a what have you done for me lately approach - so it won't be far-fetched to see additional guards highly recruited for the 2015-2016 season in which Wiley would then be a sophomore attempting to gain minutes after not playing much his freshman year.

Dion Wiley is to great of a player to have on the bench not playing significant minutes or contributing as a freshman.

Romelo Trimble is a great great player and will be given the opportunity to convert to point guard and possibly play major minutes his freshman year. It will be hard to justify not playing Trimble a Mcdonald's All-American one of the top 25 players in the country and a rarity as a UMD recruit. However that will surely stunt the development of Roddy Peters from Suitland HS. another public school local who was a highly recruited point guard last year despite injury - who effectively completed rehab and played some minor minutes and should be ready to go at 100% this upcoming season. Will he be given a chance to showcase his abilities to help UMD or will they go the experimental route?

Dion Wiley should also attempt to convert to point guard at the college level but won't be given the chance at UMD he may not be even given a chance to play the off guard position at UMD.
Why should he convert to point guard? His size, ball handling, shooting ability and athleticism would make him an elite point guard with pro potential once he has accepted the college programs benefits such as nutrition, conditioning, strength training, skill development, motivation, playing with better players, you are looking at a player with a huge huge upside an easier convert to point guard in my opinion - he could easily average 10 points, five rebounds, five assist a game or more with the occasional triple double here or there. He played point guard for Potomac this year as Randall Broddie at times played off the ball and found success by winning the Maryland 2A state championship. He could play off guard just as easily he has the shooting touch and size but would need minutes to develop at the college level in order to be the player he could be at either position and I am not sure his development will be a focus of UMD next season.

Romelo and Seth in the back court - same player - both combo guards with score first instincts - they will need chemistry and one or both will need to refine their game for UMD to be successful. A lot to ask of a freshman who will need to adjust to the college game and learn a new position. Imagine a backcourt of Roddy and Dion - maybe not  at UMD but another school how good would that back court be?? UMD was also looking to recruit Tre Campbell from St. Johns who committed to Georgetown instead - which would have possibly created even more guard depth and less time at UMD for the incoming freshman. As far as pro potential Dion Wiley has it so does Roddy Peters but will either be able to showcase their abilities while playing at UMD?????? Where the focus is clearly on stockpiling local talent because the DC, MD, Northern VA area is a hotbed of basketball talent, and part of a coaches success is often viewed by how many great players they can keep in state. OH the ones who got away Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Rudy Gay, hell even Donte Green leave a bitter taste in the mouth of everyone involved with recruiting in the area.

Hopefully it isn't too late for Dion to reconsider another school where he can learn, develop, and win without having to sit the bench as a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior.

The Knicks were off to a 17 point lead in the second quarter. Then in the second half Jarrett Jack happened — he had 23 of his 31 points in the second half to spark a Cavaliers comeback (he also had 10 assists, 5 rebounds ). That comeback was aided by the Knicks deciding to take poor shots, but Jack took advantage — he crossed guys up, drained long twos, hit floaters in the lane and got to the basket. He also hit the dagger with 24.7 left — a fade away jumper that ould be a bad shot most nights but fell because he was just hitting everything.

Thunder forward Kevin Durant hit a game-winning three-pointer with 1.7 seconds left in double overtime to defeat the Raptors 119-118 in Toronto on Friday.

The shot capped a wild game full of disputed calls and pushed Durant over the 50-point mark for the second time this season. The five-time All-Star finished with 51 points (on 15-for-32 shooting), 12 rebounds and seven assists in 52 minutes against the Raptors. He had seven points in the decisive double overtime period.

“We couldn’t go another overtime,” Durant told reporters afterwards. “I had to live with whatever happened. You had to get out of there. I wasn’t trying to go to another overtime. I pulled up for it, it looked good when it left my hands and God guided that thing to the basket, man. That was the craziest game I’ve ever been a part of.”

As the clock ticked down under five seconds, Durant dribbled to his left, creating a little space to set up a deep three-pointer. The 31-footer swished home with less than two seconds remaining, silencing the Air Canada Centre crowd and drawing a happy headlock from teammate Serge Ibaka.

The NBA’s scoring leader became the first player in the last five seasons to score at least 50 points twice in the same season. Back in January, Durant hit for a career-high 54 points against the Warriors. The last players to crack 50 points twice in the same year? Cleveland’s LeBron James and Miami’s Dwyane Wade, who each scored 50-plus points three times during the 2008-09 season.

The last player to match Durant’s stat line of 51 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists was Bulls legend Michael Jordan, who tallied 54 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists in a loss to the Lakers on Nov. 20, 1992.
