REQUESTS FOR RELEASE
FROM
DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
 ALL-MET ELITE

JON DAVIS
CLINTON CHRISTIAN HS.
UPPER MARLBORO MD.

In late October, Jon Davis, a 6-foot-2 scorer out of Upper Marlboro (Md.) Clinton Christian, committed to DePaul. Just two weeks later, Davis signed a Letter of Intent with Oliver Purnell’s program.
Now Davis is looking to go elsewhere.

Davis recently asked the DePaul staff to be released from his Letter of Intent, so he could do a year of prep school of Chatham (Va.) Hargrave Military Academy and open up his recruitment.

“My recruitment is back open,” Davis told Scout.com. “I told them about two weeks ago.”

What led to this decision?

“Just throughout the year me, my parents and a couple of my coaches thought it’d be best if I go to prep because it would better me for college,” Davis said. “Then we talked to a couple of prep school coaches and everyone thought it would benefit me going prep.”

Davis, who will play for Damon Handon’s DC Premier team this spring and summer, said not many know about his decision.

“I don’t think many of the college coaches know,” Davis told Scout.com.

At this point, Davis doesn’t have a list of schools and is waiting for his official release.

“Whoever wants me,” Davis said when asked if there were any schools he’d like to hear from. “I will go where I’m wanted.”
