THEODORE ROOSEVELT GUARD - JOHNNIE SHULER COMMITS TO LASALLE UNIVERSITY - ALL-MET ELITE

THEODORE ROOSEVELT
GUARD
 JOHNNIE SHULER
COMMITS
TO
 LASALLE UNIVERSITY
 ALL-MET ELITE

THEODORE ROOSEVELT HS.
WASHINGTON D.C.

Theodore Roosevelt (D.C.) senior guard Johnnie Shuler became the Explorers’ first commitment for the 2014 Class, committing on Tuesday.

“I liked the campus, I liked how the team goes with each other, they have great chemistry together,” he told CoBL by phone. “I’m going to bring hard work, leadership and competitiveness.”

Shuler took an official visit to La Salle this past weekend, his only such visit, before committing. His AAU coach says that Shuler saw that he would fit in at La Salle, and made his decision.

“The offense is very guard-oriented,” Tony Langley, coach of the D.C. Warriors, told CoBL. ”Coach G is a great coach. He fits in with the type of coach that Giannini is.

The offense that he runs gives the guards an opportunity to use their imagination and their creativity to break down the defense, and there are plenty of scoring opportunities on that team.”

He is a pure point guard,” Langley said. “He is a very unselfish player. He has the ability to score. He is very fast. He’s got the Philly style of basketball in terms of being very competitive.

He ended up being a late bloomer. He is just a great kid. He knows the game of basketball. He has a great personality and has never been in trouble. I’m really happy for him, and I think it is a good fit to go to La Salle.”
