 Obi Romeo, a shot-blocking specialist, committed to the Hawks on Saturday.

He made a big impression this summer on the AAU circuit with East Coast Fusion after an injury kept him out all summer last year; by the time he picked Saint Joseph’s he had offers from Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, Longwood, East Tennessee State and Marshall.

Romeo is a 6-9 defensive rim protector with the unique ability to block many shots while maintaining possession for his team. Romeo runs the floor and plays really hard when he is on the court and rarely takes plays off. He has decent hands and has shown the ability to catch the ball in traffic and finish with thunderous dunks. He will need to continue to work on his low post moves.
