Prince George’s County native Anthony Cowan, a rising sophomore point guard who transferred from Good Counsel to St. John’s this summer, is poised to become the next great point guard in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.

As a freshman at Good Counsel last season, the 5-foot-10 guard finished as the team’s third leading scorer at 8.8 points per game. He scored a season-high 20 points in the Falcons’ 73-65 victory over Bishop Ireton in February and earned third-team all-conference honors.

“Definitely, I want to win championships,” he said. “That’s what I came here for. This year, I know we’ll have a great chance to win a championship. That’s what I want to come here and do.”
