 ALL-MET ELITE

Taron Oliver a 6-foot-9 sophomore from Bell (Washington, D.C.), is transferring to national

basketball powerhouse Montrose Christian (Rockville, Md.), the Washington Post announced on Friday.

Oliver, who averaged 13.4 points as a freshman, is switching schools to advance his development, according to his father, Taron Oliver Sr.

He told the Post, "It's just a more experienced staff, a better opportunity as far as academics. (Montrose is) going to give him one-on-one attention, and they've just got a little more to offer than (public schools) right now. You really can't take a kid to another level, to compete on a national level, if you don't get in the weight room. They've got a guy (Matt Johnson) there who's one of the best in the country.and he's going to dedicate to twice a day."

Oliver already has a scholarship offer from South Florida, while Indiana and Virginia have been watching him closely during the summer AAU campaign.
