One of the strengths of Virginia's 2016 class is its depth, and part of that depth includes Ako Adams of DC Thunder. The 6'2 guard has stayed among the mid to upper-end tier of guards in his class throughout his high school career, and he validated that positioning again this year by averaging over 17 points per game at WCAC power Bishop O'Connell.
His impressive play has continued over on to the AAU circuit this spring, and Adams showed in Hampton why he is one of the state's most highly recruited guards, helping lead DC Thunder to the championship game, including a big win over Boo Williams in the semifinals. For one, he's a shot maker from every area of the floor. Whether it's a deep three off the dribble, his go-to midrange game, or a one-legged floater, Adams can put make shots at a good clip.
The other piece, however, is his well-rounded skillset. He's good ball handler who can play on and off the ball, and he makes correct basketball plays. Adams has a pretty long list of offers that includes the likes of Richmond, ODU, Charlotte, George Washington, La Salle, Lehigh, and Towson. Yale, Brown, and Illinois State have also been reaching out regularly lately. He said he has a visit planned to Richmond on June 12th.
