DC PREMIER
SET TO BECOME
FLAGSHIP
UNDER ARMOUR
AAU PROGRAM
ALL-MET ELITE
The D.C. Assault AAU program, headed by co-founder Curtis Malone, had been a fixture on the grassroots basketball scene in the nation’s capital since the early 1990s. D.C. Assault is fading away and a new, separate program is emerging, D.C. Premier, which takes hold as Under Armour’s flagship program in the region, Under Armour announced officially in late February.
Under Armour has laid out its 2014 grassroots schedule, as well, comprised of 30 teams (plus one) in two conferences that will play five events from April through July. D.C. Premier takes its spot in the East, joining other powers on the circuit including Juice All-Stars, New Heights, Atlanta Xpress, and SportsU.
Perhaps most notable for Under Armour, though, is its crown jewel, called “The Finals” which will take place in Atlanta, Ga. during the final live recruiting period in July. It goes head-to-head with Nike’s Peach Jam, which takes place at the same time in North Augusta, S.C., just east of the Georgia state line.
