to be honored Wednesday

Marcellus “Boo” Williams, Jr. will be honored at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Richmond Marriott’s Grand Ballroom located on 500 East Broad Street.
He is one of eight honorees who will be recognized by Dominion Virginia Power and the Library of Virginia for making significant contributions to the Commonwealth.
Williams is locally and nationally known as an ambassador for youth basketball and started the Boo Williams Summer league, a high school AAU basketball program, in 1982.
There now are more than 165 teams and more then 2,000 males and females who participate in his summer league.
Many have become college and professional stars and a 135,000 square foot facility, which is located in Hampton and hosts a variety of indoor sports, is named after him.
