NIGEL JOHNSON
PICKS UP OFFER FROM
GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY
ALL-MET ELITE
On Monday, Broad Run High School junior Guard Nigel Johnson picked up his fifth basketball offer when George Washington University Colonials head coach Mike Lonergan made a scholarship offer to the high scoring Spartan.
The entire George Washington coaching staff has seen Johnson over the course of months in various settings leading to the offer: GW Assistant Coach Pete Strickland first saw Johnson score 28 points in a Broad Run road win at Patriot High School this winter. Lonergan, along with GW Assistant Coach Haj Turner, attended a workout for Johnson in early April at Broad Run. A week later, GW Assistant Coach Kevin Sutton scouted Johnson at an AAU tournament at the University of Pittsburgh. Then, this past weekend Longergan saw Johnson play four games at an AAU tournament in Little Rock, Arkansas.
This is Johnson's fifth Division I offer (along with Bucknell, American, Holy Cross, and Cornell).
This past season, Johnson led DC, Virginia, and Maryland scorers with a 29.5 points per game average. He also set a Virginia single season AAA record with 211 assists.
GWU is located in Washington, D.C. They are a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
