The Binghamton University men's basketball program is in search of new leadership.
Mark Macon was fired as the men's basketball coach on Monday, ending his three-year run as head coach with a 23-70 record -- 13-35 in the America East Conference.
The Bearcats had received a verbal commitment from Marcellous Bell, a guard from DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, but he has not signed a National Letter of Intent.
Bell had not heard about the coaching change when reached Monday afternoon, but he said, "I don't know if it changes anything. My family and I will have to sit down and talk about it."
Bell said his initial reaction was he was still "looking forward" to going to BU. He also said he had chosen BU based on the school's reputation as much as the basketball program.
"I don't see me trying to hurry up and go somewhere else," Bell said.
