ALL-MET TEAM
2011-2012
Back row, left to right: Coach Vaughn Jones of Coolidge, DeMatha's James Robinson, DeMatha's BeeJay Anya, Gonzaga's Kris Jenkins, Episcopal's Kethan Savage, Montrose Christian's Justin Anderson, Montrose Christian's Michael Carrera.
Front row, left to right: Paul VI's Coleman Johnson, Paul VI's Patrick Holloway, Coolidge's DeShaun Morman, Landon's Joe McDonald.
Patrick Holloway continues a season of firsts for Paul VI Catholic, becoming the first player from the Fairfax private school to be named All-Met Player of the Year.
He is the sixth player from the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference to be named boys’ player of the year since 1993, joining Quinn Cook (DeMatha, 2010), Jason Clark (O’Connell, 2008), Austin Freeman (DeMatha, 2007), Joe Forte (DeMatha, 1999) and Alvin Brown (Gonzaga, 1997).* Montrose Christian placed two players on the first team for the third time in the past four years. There’s been at least one Mustang on the first team in each of the past eight years, the longest such active streak. Justin Anderson and Michael Carrera, the first two-time All-Met from the Rockville private school, were honored this year. (Josh Hairston was a two-time All-Met, but only played one season at Montrose.)
* Coolidge junior DeShaun Morman is the lone public school representative on the first team. That’s the fewest public school players we’ve had on first team since 1959, when the first team consisted of five players: Cardozo’s Everett Lucas, Landon’s Fred Hetzel and Carroll’s Tom Hoover, George Leftwich and Monk Malloy.
Coolidge Coach Vaughn Jones has the rare distinction of being named All-Met as both a player and a coach. He earned All-Met honors playing for DeMatha in 1991 and 1992.
