 ROBERT JOHNSON

 INDIANA UNIVERSITY

BENEDICTINE COLLEGE PREPARATORY HS.
RICHMOND VA.

The Indiana University basketball team picked up its first recruiting commitment in the 2014 class on Friday with the pledge of versatile four-star guard Robert Johnson.

A 6-foot-2 player from Benedictine High School in Richmond, Va., picked the Hoosiers over North Carolina, Florida State and Virginia during an announcement at his school.

Johnson, the nation’s No. 42 senior, according to Rivals.com, has been a priority recruit for IU coach Tom Crean, who, according to Johnson’s father, thinks he is capable of playing either guard position in college.

Robert Johnson Sr. said in a Tuesday night phone interview that he believes his son’s shooting ability could be a major asset to the Hoosiers.

“I think it’s huge … (for) any school in the country, if you can find a scorer, that’ll really make your team much better,” he said. “That’s what it has evolved to, people who can really score the basketball and shoot the basketball from deep range. I think that really would benefit (the Hoosiers).”

 THON MAKER
ALL-MET ELITE

CARLISLE HS.
MARTINSVILLE  VA.

Thon Maker (C, Martinsville Carlisle, VA)
When it's all said and done, Maker has a great chance to be the nation's top prospect. At 7' and 200 pounds, Maker isn't your typical slim post man.

Adding a great deal of muscle since he was first discovered at the John Lucas Middle School Combine two years ago, Maker has enormous potential.

With impressive fluidity and lateral movement for his size, Thon has been in the gym developing his post game, most notably his right hook shot.

In a private workout with Lucas nearly a week ago, Maker also showed an ability to hit from the mid-range, another developing part to a limitless skill set.

While Maker doesn't hold an offer from Ohio State, the Buckeyes are listed among the schools that have expressed interest to the African native.

MIAMI HEAT RESIGN - MICHAEL BEASLEY - ALL-MET ELITE

MIAMI HEAT
 RESIGN
 MICHAEL BEASLEY
 ALL-MET ELITE

OAK HILL ACADEMY
MOUTH OF WILSON VA.

The young forward is back with the Heat, signing a contract on Wednesday that will give him another chance to prove he belongs in the NBA.

"Michael had the best years of his career with us," Heat president Pat Riley said. "

We feel that he can help us. Yahoo! Sports reported on Saturday that the Heat were interested in bringing Beasley back, and the team quickly and emphatically denied that a reunion was in the cards. Four days later, the deal was done, and Beasley will be in training camp with the two-time defending NBA champions on Oct. 1.
It took some doing on Beasley's side to make the Heat offer become reality. A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that the team initially had no interest in bringing Beasley back, then was swayed after the former Kansas State star offered to accept a non-guaranteed contract. That's what it took for the Heat to "give him a shot," said the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because neither side had released specific details of the talks.

He's the latest entry in the low-risk, potentially high-reward moves the Heat have made in the past year, first signing Chris Andersen this past January and seeing him become an important part of the rotation on the way to the second straight title. Miami also signed Greg Oden to a veterans' minimum deal this summer, the same sort of deal that Beasley is getting from the club.

Temple University
ALL-MET ELITE

ST. JAMES SCHOOL
HAGERSTOWN MD.

6ft-8in Power Forward Obi Enechionyia has verbally committed to Temple University, as of reported and confirmed on September 8. This tall and long big man has had a bit of a following on him, most notable for his time in the AAU basketball team Team Takeover.

The University of Maryland was in hot pursuit of this prospect, all because a teammate of Enechionyia on Team Takeover, Dion Wiley, had committed to Maryland. Miami, Georgia Tech, Loyola Marymount, and a handful of other schools were also in the mix for Enechionyia. Obi Enechionyia is ranked 7th in the state of Virginia, and as the 35th best Power Forward in the nation, along with a 4-star recruit rating, courtesy of ESPN.

The Temple Owls just received a player who has the potential to become something special, through some development and experience. His intangibles are pretty solid for a young PF, and his offensive skillset is fundamentally sound, but this new Owl has a long way to go before he can start making an impact at the college level.
