POTOMAC GUARD

COMMITS TO
 MEMPHIS UNIVERSITY
 ALL-MET ELITE

POTOMAC HS.
OXON HILL MD.

Two days after the Memphis Tigers' annual tip-off event at FedExForum, they got a verbal commitment from Randall Broddie, a point guard from Maryland.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior will be a part of the Tigers' 2016 recruiting class.

"I kind of knew I was leaning towards Memphis, but after Memphis Madness and taking my visit that was the icing on the cake," Broddie told Scout.com.

Scout.com rates Broddie the No. 7 shooting guard prospect in the Class of 2016 and the No. 45 overall prospect in the nation. Their scouting report of Broddie reads, "The lefty has a scorer's mentality. He's quick with the ball in his hands and can score off the drive, but his jump shot is among his biggest weapons."

Broddie is the Tigers second commit for the 2016 class.

BROOKLYN NETS - POINT GUARD JARRET JACK - SNEAKER COLLECTION - ALL-MET ELITE

BROOKLYN NETS
 POINT GUARD
JARRET JACK'S
SNEAKER COLLECTION
 ALL-MET ELITE

Where we’re from in D.C., that’s just kind of how it is. Everybody is into the kick game,” said Jack, 30, who grew up just outside the nation’s capital in Maryland. “When you’re young you have very, very small goals. If you did work, cut some lawns or whatever, with the money you saved up, you’re probably going to buy some sneakers or some video games.

Something like that. For me, that was the thing I took, too. Obviously playing basketball, (your sneakers) were a way to express yourself without having to speak.

“Not just playing basketball, but also walking around on the street. When I was growing up, I was told the first thing a girl looks at is you, the second thing a girl looks at is your shoes. So that was something I took with me.”

Jack has a collection of about 1,500 pairs of sneakers lined up neatly in his Atlanta home, the result of accumulating about 300 per year since joining the NBA and signing with Nike. His goal is to wear a new pair every day, which is why he brought more than 100 to his apartment in New Jersey after being traded from Cleveland.

Opening “the sneaker room” in Atlanta, as Jack calls it, requires a security code to prevent guests from stealing.

“A lot of friends, my homeboys and stuff, we all wear the same size,” Jack said, “and they got real sticky fingers.”

Jack has a system for which sneakers he collects and when. It’s broken up into three categories.

“If I think it’s wack, I’m not going to get it. If I think it’s dope, I’m going to get it,” he said. “If I think it’s super dope, I’m going to get it early, maybe like five months early.”

The NBA’s reigning MVP sat down with the folks at HBO this summer for an unscripted reality special titled “The Offseason: Kevin Durant”.

The 1-hour show will debut Nov.4 at 9pm.

Per The Oklahoman:

The unscripted special is a first-person account of the life of Durant from the end of the 2013-14 season (May 31) to the start of training camp in September. Cameras and microphones were embedded with Durant throughout his summer away from the Thunder, chronicling the NBA’s Most Valuable Player during his decision to step away from Team USA basketball, his camp appearances, business partner and brand commitments, and his time living in Los Angeles.

The film was executive produced by numerous people, including Durant and Shawn “Jay Z” Carter, who represents Durant through his Roc Nation agency.
